Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of CONTEND. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Code of Conduct, which is part of these Terms.

1. Who may use CONTEND

You must be at least [13 / 16 / 18] years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm you meet this requirement and that any information you give us is accurate.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
• Do not share your account, impersonate others, or create accounts to evade moderation.
• Tell us promptly at contact@contendthefaith.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Your content

• You own your content. You keep all rights to the threads, replies, debate statements, and comments you create.
• You grant us a license to host, store, display, and distribute your content within the Service so we can operate CONTEND and show it to other users. This license ends when you delete your content, except for reasonable backups or where others have already interacted with it.
• You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it and that it does not violate the law or anyone else’s rights.

4. Acceptable use

The heart of CONTEND is rigorous but charitable dialogue. When you use the Service, you agree to follow our Code of Conduct and not to:

• Harass, threaten, defame, or incite violence against anyone;
• Post hateful or dehumanizing content targeting people for their religion, ethnicity, sex, or other protected characteristics;
• Post unlawful, obscene, or infringing material, or reveal others’ private information;
• Spam, scam, impersonate, or manipulate votes, ranks, or discussions;
• Attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.

5. Moderation

To protect the community we may, at our discretion and without notice, remove or edit content, and warn, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the Code of Conduct. You can report content using the in-app report tools.

6. Debate, opinions, and no professional advice

CONTEND hosts debate and discussion across many worldviews. Opinions expressed by users are their own and do not represent CONTEND. Content on the Service is for discussion and education only and is not theological, legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

7. Third-party links

The Service links to third-party content (for example, external videos and resources). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites or their content.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CONTEND and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed [USD 100 / the amount you paid us, if any].

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CONTEND and its operator from claims arising out of your content or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using CONTEND and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses for already-shared content, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [your state/country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located there.

We may update these Terms. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and continued use of the Service after changes means you accept them.
